For more than 30 years, this 1,800 acre facility has featured a 7.2 mile scenic drive through Texas Hill Country providing the opportunity to interact with more than 1,000 rare and endangered animals roaming free in their herds. The center is dedicated to the conservation and breeding of endangered wildlife like the addra gazelle, the American bison, the Arabian oryx, and rare species of birds, wolves, rhinos, giraffes, wildcats, and tortoises. Fossil Rim has one of the most successful cheetah breeding programs in the world. The Center offers a variety of family-friendly guided tours, lodging for overnight guests, season-specific events, and educational and volunteer programs. The facility was voted the third best safari park in USA Today’s 10 best polls of 2017.

International Exotic Animal Sanctuary
Boyd, TX

Founded in 1988, this sanctuary houses bobcats, cougars, jaguars, and other imperiled big cats. Your average zoo this is not—its feline denizens lounge around in spacious habitats, complete with pools and houses. There are also 29 bears that call the sanctuary home. For a token donation, the sanctuary will arrange a small-group tour for you on weekends.
